About
Tally & Gate helps small and mid-sized businesses fix how their work flows, then use AI to carry the routine parts — with a person approving every step that matters.
Who you work with
The practice is led by founder Brian Roseland, and you work with him directly.
I’m a veteran, an OPEX Six Sigma Black Belt, and a data and analytics leader based in St. Charles County, Missouri. I’ve designed and run AI-assisted workflows where software prepares the work and people make the decisions.
I’m also on the owner’s side of the table: I hold a minority stake in a regional service business, which is where I first piloted this approach. That’s taught me what owners actually need — fewer things waiting on them, and no surprises.
The name is the method
- Tally is the measuring. Map the process with the people who do it, get a baseline, and agree on what “better” means before changing anything.
- Gate is the approval. AI can draft, sort and prepare — but a named person on your team signs off before work leaves the building.
How I work
- Discover — one workflow that costs you time every week.
- Map & measure — walk it, set a baseline.
- Pilot the harness — fix the flow, then add AI to prepare the work.
- Run, with a person in the loop — approvals, logging and cost limits from day one.
- Measure & prove — the same numbers, before and after. If it didn’t move, I’ll say so.

What I believe
- Automating a broken process just breaks it faster.
- You should own your accounts, your data and your keys.
- AI should never send, sign or pay on its own.
I work with businesses across the St. Louis region in person and with clients elsewhere remotely.
